Once your site is listed in the ODP, it may take up to month or more for your site to appear on Google, AOL, Netscape, Lycos and other search engines using ODP data.

Request for change in Description / Title of the site

If a site has been accepted for inclusion in the directory but you are dissatisfied with how the site is described or titled, you may go to the category where it is listed, and fill out the "update URL" form. If you are dissatisfied with the category in which your site is listed, you may send an e-mail to an editor for the category explaining your disagreement.

Don't Do's

• Mirror sites
• Redirecting URLs
• Sites containing primarily affiliate links
• Affiliate/reseller/franchise sites with no unique content of its own
• Illegal sites
• Sites Conatining Phrase "Under Construction" or like that
• Sites devoted to the sales and distribution of a single product should be avoided, particularly if they are affiliate sites or if the site is merely a distributor for a manufacturer already listed in the Directory. The purpose of the ODP is not to replicate the individual listings of an online shopping catalog
• URL consists of a search result set from another search engine or directory.
